The Cotswolds are not one place but a spread of small towns and villages across several counties, joined by narrow lanes with little parking. That makes them lovely to visit and tiring to drive. From Bedfordshire the Cotswolds are a longer run, so this is a trip we usually plan as a full day, typically eight to ten hours including stops. That leaves time for two or three places at an easy pace rather than a rushed tour of the postcards.
Building the route
Pick two or three villages rather than five. The best days usually combine one busy honeypot with somewhere quieter, and a long lunch in between. Tell us what you would like to see and the chauffeur puts them in a sensible order, avoiding doubling back along single-track lanes.
