Luxury Airport Transfers: What to Expect
A luxury airport transfer is a pre-booked chauffeur who collects you from home or the office in a premium car, drives you to the terminal and, on the return, tracks your flight and meets you in arrivals. The luxury is less about the badge on the car and more about removing every step that makes airport travel tiring: parking, shuttle buses, queues for taxis and uncertainty about whether the driver will be there. Here is what to expect at each stage.
Before the day
You send the flight number, the pickup address, the number of passengers and how much luggage you have. We agree a collection time that leaves a sensible margin for traffic and check-in, and you receive a fixed quote. If you are not sure when to leave, our guide on how early to leave for the airport sets out the usual thinking.
The outbound journey
The chauffeur arrives before the agreed time, loads the luggage and takes you directly to the departures drop-off. The car is quiet and comfortable, so you can rest or finish work. At the terminal the chauffeur unloads the bags so you can go straight to check-in. We operate 24 hours, which matters for early departures.
The return: flight tracking and meet and greet
Arrivals are where a chauffeured transfer makes the biggest difference.
- Your flight is tracked, so the collection follows the real landing time rather than the timetable.
- The chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board.
- Luggage is taken from you and loaded into the car.
- You are driven home without queueing for a taxi or walking to a car park.
Airports we serve
We cover Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and London City, as well as Birmingham. Each airport has its own layout and pickup arrangements; our individual airport pages describe the terminals in more detail.
Choosing the car
The Mercedes S500 long wheelbase is the most popular airport car for up to four passengers and three suitcases, with reclining rear seats that help after a long flight. The Audi A6 is a discreet alternative. Families and groups of up to seven passengers with up to six suitcases use the Mercedes V-Class. For a special arrival, such as returning from a honeymoon, the Rolls-Royce Phantom is available.
Why people choose it over parking
Airport parking means driving tired at the end of a trip, finding the car and paying for every day away. A chauffeur removes all of that. For longer trips and groups the cost gap can be smaller than expected. Our guide to airport parking versus a chauffeur compares the two honestly.
Travelling with children or extra luggage
Families and anyone with bulky luggage should mention it when booking. Tell us the number of large suitcases, cabin bags, pushchairs and any sports equipment such as golf bags or skis, so we can allocate a car with enough room. For children, let us know their ages when you enquire and we will discuss seating. Our guide to child seats, luggage and accessibility covers this in more detail. Passengers with limited mobility can ask for extra time at pickup and drop-off, and the chauffeur can help with bags and doors at both ends. It is also worth thinking about the return: after a long-haul flight, children are often tired and luggage has grown, so a roomier car such as the V-Class can make the journey home much easier than squeezing into a saloon.
